Salvation Army : Thanksgiving Event
On Thanksgiving we had 6 Active Bothers and 2 Pledges join us at Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale to volunteer service with the Hilo Salvation Army. Each year the Hilo Salvation Army provides meals for families in need who come in person to Aunty Sally’s and also allows individuals who are unable to get out of their homes to sign up for a thanksgiving feast to be delivered to them. For the past three years PDC has had brothers join and assist with delivering the meals to the individuals homes. We arrived at around 9:30 A.M. and as the Salvation Army got organized they had us split off into different groups and deliver the food to the individuals around the East side of the Big Island. We were able to deliver food to over 180 individuals by splitting into three groups delivering in Hilo as well as Puna/Pahoa area. We finished the service project by about 12:30 feeling grateful to serve people in need on the holiday dedicated to giving thanks.
